Three highly successful workshops were held for our scholarship students in January by the ACA. Here are some short videos by the moderators accompanied by comments from students attending them.

Amaj Oun, moderator of the “technological tools for academic life” workshop for our first years gave the students the chance to identify training needs in tech tools they haven’t used before, both to improve success in education and also in professional life after graduating.
Collective Volunteering & Initiatives Workshop – 21 Jan 2021
This workshop was led by one of our very own Galilee Foundation alumni, Nidaa Nassar, who is now the General Director at Baladna, a development and capacity building organisation for Palestinian youth living in Israel. She spoke about the importance of volunteering and initiatives within the Palestinian society.
“We spoke about the social and political role of volunteering especially in a reality which pushes us to be individuals. There is no vacuum and no one will hold the responsibility but us. That’s why we believe in this scholarship program and aim to expand these initiatives.”
Muhammad Salameh a current third year student talks about the lack of understanding of the importance of volunteering and its role as a solution to rebuilding Palestinian society. He says”The workshop by Nidaa Nassar was very important. In my opinion the content should be known by every one of us for two reasons. Firstly, the lack of understanding about the importance of volunteering and secondly, because volunteering is one of the main solutions for re-building our society.”
25 Jan 2021 Research Skills Workshop
Loaay Wattad, moderator of research skills workshop for second year students. is a Ph.D student at Tel Aviv university working on knowledge and literary production for Palestinian students. In this workshop he delved into fundamental tools and basics of academic writing.
He talked about changing student academic interests into a research theme to enhance effort, engagement and success for producing the all important written paper or a seminar at the end.
Ghadeer Khweiss, a current second year student, talks about the research skills workshop with Loaay Wataad.
Echoing Loaay Wattad, she says: “Through this workshop I gained very important and fundamental skills which I have used in papers and will continue using. One skill is to connect personal interests to the theme of the paper or the seminar. There was a big change between academic expectations of high school and university. This workshop was really useful in bridging that gap and giving us skills which can be implemented”
