Congratulations! - Galilee Foundation

Congratulations!

The Galilee Foundation is very grateful to Trustee, David Freeman, who completed the epic Prudential RideLondon 100 mile cycling challenge to support the  the Galilee Foundation on 2 August.

Galilee Foundation supporters can contribute to David’s cycle ride by donating online here or by contacting the Foundation.

David was one of nearly 26,000 cyclists who participated this year, starting in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London, travelling down into hilly Surrey, and then returning to London to cross the finishing line at The Mall near Buckingham Palace. It was a gruelling race, which David completed in 7 hours, 15 minutes.

“It was an amazing day,” said David. “Seeing that many cyclists all together, most raising money for charity, generated a fantastic atmosphere. It was an emotional day. It wasn’t a race – everyone wanted to help each other cope with the stress of the hills and heat.”

That sense of camaraderie was also among the thousands of spectators who lined the route.

“All the way round the course there was cheering, the banging of drums, the ringing of bells and on every corner people were waving flags, playing music. It may have been a cycle ride but it was really an excuse for a party for thousands of non-cyclists too,” said David.

“It was an example of people coming together, of working for good causes, remembering those less fortunate and trying help, but celebrating a sunny day in London too.”

David trained for the race on the Scottish island of Arran. "Having been training on Arran, in barren countryside, cycling through London on the day itself could not have been more different," he said. "It was a perfect tourist route past all the 'must see' sights of London."
