We were thrilled to screen Lyd to a full and very appreciative house at the Prince Charles Cinema Leicester Square, on Monday 26th February 2024. The directors, Sarah Friedland and Rami Younis joined us for a post screening Q and A with our co- founder, Sawsan Asfari.
The storyline of the film is very simple and extraordinarily effective. It weaves the history of Lyd to the present day, including first hand testimonies of seminal events, with an imaginative counterplot of an alternate reality in which the Nakba never happened and where Lyd is a place in which all its citizens, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Druze, etc., live in peace and harmony, sharing festivals and lives.
During Monday, Sarah and Rami managed to pull in an interview with Sky and with Al Jazeera. You can access the Al Jazeera interview with Harry Fawcett here to find out more about the film.
We can’t show you the film, but if you get the opportunity do go and see it. In the meantime here are some stills to get the flavour of the juxtaposition of photo and animation used in the making.
And you can enjoy the record of the finale of the day when Sarah and Rami gave us a present which we will be proudly hanging from the office wall.
