Leila, Omar, Millie, Hebah and Hana are Team Galilee for the London 10K this year and they are looking for supporters to help them collectively reach the magic target of £10,000 which is their motivation for training hard to run in the summer heat on July 14th.
They are fundraising for Palestinian education projects in which the Galilee Foundation is currently involved, like the scholarship programme for Palestinian citizens of Israel, and for those programmes which will be forthcoming in the West Bank, into which we have already expanded, and Gaza when the situation stabilises and needs are clear.
You can contribute to the team here. No donation is too small. Whatever you can spare can be used to make a difference to empowering young, talented Palestinians to break free from the cycle of marginalisation and poverty through education.
Hana, Hebah and Omar have run for Team Galilee before, notably in the Royal Parks Half in 2022,. Leila and Millie (below left to right) are new to the team and are super organised already with their fundraising. Please spur them all on with a donation
For those interested in the race and who might want to join in the fun on the day as a spectator here are some more details:
Participants will head off down Piccadilly at around 9.30am, before looping north up Regents Street. Through Pall Mall, they’ll run past St James’s Palace, then head east towards Trafalgar Square. A beautiful stretch along the river at Embankment culminates at Westminster Bridge, and they’ll finish off the race down Whitehall, after looping around Parliament Square. Time for photos at the finish.
As they race along the course there will be a variety of music every 450m ranging from reggae/funk to disco.
The nearest underground stations to the race start are Green Park and Hyde Park Corner.
