The Yaffa Youth Movement recently took secondary school students to various universities in Israel to help them with their career and course choices. They went to Ben Gurion university to learn about Medical Studies and strategies to achieve the qualifications to enrol on a variety of health related courses. While they were there they had the opportunity to dissect a pig heart to gain a better understanding of what medical studies entail. The students were very enthusiastic about this visit.
A trip to Tel Aviv university had a particular focus on the Social Sciences, while at Haifa Technicon the subjects presented to the high school students were Engineering and Computer Science.
One student said: “The chance to visit the universities & to meet Arab students who are from communities like ours was really great, to hear their stories & how they came to be in university. It helped me understand that university really can be an option for someone like me.”
