On a sunny Sunday morning, Team Galilee – Ahmed El Gendy, Rhodri Davies and Gareth Davies, Jack Maguire and Leyli Hydrova – began the ASICS 10K run, winding their way past London’s most iconic sites and structures. The course was lined with cheering crowds, live bands and DJs, creating an electric atmosphere for both the participants and spectators – a spirit which helped our runners across the finish line. To add to the day’s excitement, a record breaking 17,500 entrants were recorded in this year’s competition!
Gareth, Rhodri, Jack, Leyli and Ahmed all ran phenomenal races, which are major accomplishments in their own right alongside the added achievement of raising an astonishing £10,000 to aid Palestinian education! We would like to thank all of you who donated via Ahmed, Rhodri, Jack, Leyli and Gareth’s Just Giving pages.
Fuelled by this recent success, we would like to encourage further participation in the Royal Parks Half Marathon on October 8th which takes place within four of London’s Royal Parks (Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James’ Park and Kensington Gardens).
While we cannot promise as sunny a day as enjoyed during the 10K, the parks in October will provide a beautiful autumnal backdrop for our runners and those cheering them on, and as Gareth said, there is no better time to support the foundation and the call to improve education for Palestinians in Israel.
