The Galilee Foundation partnered with Friends of Birzeit University to host an important online webinar event on Thursday 21st December 2023 to discuss how the war in Gaza has also been an attack on Palestinian education. The webinar was a great success and over 300 people joined us.

The speakers are all experts in their fields, as their biographies show.
The webinar was chaired by Professor Arathi Sripakash, Professor of Sociology and Education at the University of Oxford, and author of “Learning Whiteness: Education and the Settler Colonial State”. Her research explores reparation and reparative justice in education.
Since then the war on Palestinian education has continued, with all the universities and most of the schools in Gaza either destroyed or badly damaged. Many lecturers, students and teachers have been killed. The schools that have survived are being used as shelters. In the West Bank students have difficulty getting to school or university due to the actions of the occupying forces, and in Israel students are suspended or expelled from university and teachers are sacked for expressing sympathy for Palestinians in Gaza.
